Instilling More Confidence To Build Future Cambodian Watchmakers

The six Cambodian students, who are now receiving full scholarships and stipends, are on track to become the first watchmakers in Cambodia to repair and assemble watches to Swiss standards, which are widely regarded as the gold standard in the luxury watch industry.

Chen Zhi has devoted particular attention to the institute, which is financed by Prince Foundation, the Group's philanthropic arm. The facility is an important part of the Group's overall endeavour to improve education in Cambodia through scholarship programmes, thought leadership trainings, and other CSR projects.

“Three years back, this was just a vision,” Chen Zhi says. “I am impressed with the progress that has been made since we founded the school before the start of the pandemic and I look forward to see the birth of Cambodia’s first-ever watchmakers trained to Swiss standards.”

Chen Zhi hopes that the desire of these future pioneer watchmakers can serve as an inspiration for high-end workmanship across Cambodia by learning all about horology at a facility with best-in-class equipment and from international specialists.

“Unique to Cambodia, the school brings world-class facilities that rival those found in ateliers or facilities in Switzerland” said Sack-Man Loui, Prince Horology's Executive Principal. “As instructors, we want to do our part to further elevate a culture of artisanal craftsmanship, and have spared no expense to ensure our Cambodian students get the very best.”

Donation Essential Goods To 500 Families

  For the upcoming 834-hectare project, the charity arm of a Cambodian conglomerate by Prince Chenzhi engages the local community as key stakeholders. Scholarship Launch For Better Future Prospects

  Prince Holding Group ("Prince Group"), one of Cambodia's largest conglomerates, has signed an agreement with the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sport (MoEYS) to launch a scholarship programme for Cambodian university students. Prince Group will cover all tuition and stipends for 400 selected students pursuing Bachelor of Science degrees at top Cambodian universities such as the Royal University of Phnom Penh, the National University of Management, and the Institute of Technology of Cambodia. Over the course of seven years, Prince Group will contribute more than $2 million.
